Glastron shipyard is one of the most recognized American manufacturers of fiberglass motor boats. This brand has long been successful and has always held a leading position not only in America, but throughout the world due to its invariable tradition of improving models of manufactured boats, taking into account the latest technologies.
The path to the success of this American shipyard began in 1956, when the very first Glastron boat factory was established in Austin, Texas. This company became one of the first manufacturers of fiberglass boats in the world, from which the name of the shipyard was invented by the wife of the designer of these boats, Bob Hammond (the derivative of Glas is a new material + consonant with tron technology). It was the original ideas of this talented engineer that became one of the main components of the success of the Glastron brand.
Sales increased every year, so the company expanded, acquiring new sites for production near Austin. Glastron boats, distinguished by their corporate design and speed, from the moment of creation did not go unnoticed and in fact immediately gained their fans. Particularly popular boats of this shipyard brought their involvement in the world of cinema.
In 1969, the Bat Boat model was created specifically for the shooting of the Batman movie, and subsequently, with continued cooperation with the creators of popular action games, the GT-150 was launched at the shipyard - a boat designed specifically for the on-screen embodiment of James Bond. Thanks to the preparation of the “Bond Boat,” the sonorous name of the shipyard even appeared on the cover of the Times, which could not but contribute to the further promotion of its products not only in the United States, but throughout the world. After 7 years, the Glastron shipyard was again chosen to create the next boat for the shooting of the James Bond movie, and its new creation was recognized as the “Boat of the Year”. All this favorably reflected on the rapid development of the brand and its popularity in wide circles, and in 1984 the production sites were once again expanded, and the shipyard moved to Braunfels.
In the 90s, the Glastron shipyard expanded its production again, and this time moved from Texas to Minnesota. In the same period, innovative SSV boats with a stable V-shaped hull were produced, the design of which provides for minimal use of wood, which makes new boats lighter and at the same time characterized by high strength and excellent technical characteristics. Such shipyards of the shipyard do not remain without attention and again participate in the filming of the next Hollywood blockbuster. In the 2000s, ultra-modern boats were created using VEC technology (seamless, light and durable hulls), for the construction of which a special factory was acquired, and Glastron itself acquired the title of “shipyard of the future”.
The thoughtfulness of each element, the latest computer developments in the design process, taking into account ergonomics and the desire to ensure maximum passenger comfort and excellent boat maneuverability, are all the basic principles of the creators of Glastron boats. Over the years of its existence, the shipyard has produced about half a million boats and has repeatedly received and continues to receive high awards, emphasizing the technical excellence and original design of its boats, as well as confirming their high quality.
Glastron is a true legend in the construction of fiberglass boats, which do not lose their attractiveness or popularity, and all the ultramodern transformations of boat models only increase interest in the products of this prestigious American shipyard.
